I think the A3 is selling well actually, but I doubt most Americans are ready for a micro car that's not Japanese.
The A1 is just another Audi that AOA is flapping their gums about, which they don't want to import to the USA. They just love to tease the Audi enthusiasts with cars they are not bringing to our shores.
AOA teased the USA public for a long time before bringing any diesels over here and then the selection was pretty limited at that.
Either be real and bring to USA shores or don't bother us these unobtainable products.
Also, the A3 might see more sales, if they would also offer a sedan.
As other makers prepare their new smaller products (Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and others), Audi has ignored the A3 in hopes to create higher transaction prices to raise the brand closer to BMW and Mercedes (aspiring for Tier1 status).
New A3 should capture more sales (considering current A3 has about zero ad dollars) when it is re-designed to include a sedan.
