Does anyone know the proper break-in procedure for the Q5. With everyone buying these cars I thought that this would be an appropreate question.

View Full Version : Proper Break-In Procedure Sherman's Audi 03-16-2010, 04:34 PM Does anyone know the proper break-in procedure for the Q5. I've always done varied speed and load for the first 1K-1.5K miles and try to keep RPM below 4K or so. Lugging the engine, particularly during break-in is not wise, but it's difficult to lug an engine mated to a slush-box. I usually change engine filter/oil at 1K-1.2K miles. I kind of like this www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm approach but have never been daring enough to try it. Mechanically it makes sense. Brakes should be used gently for 100-200 miles then bed them in properly as described on www.stoptech.com site. As always YMMV. This could get interesting! :) The G Man 03-17-2010, 05:03 AM The Audi manual recommands below 1/2 of max speed up to 500 km and 2/3 max speed until 1000 km I believe. Audi use a break in oil, so change it at 5000 miles and take it easy on the brakes for the 1st 200 miles. |
