View Full Version : Experiences - Time required for car to be loaded onto ship?
flightjunkie 03-13-2010, 05:07 AM I dropped off my A5 in Munich on Friday, March 5 after a wonderful week of driving around Europe, but I still don't have the ship/vessel information or any indication that my car is on a ship yet as of Saturday, March 13 (according to the EH Harms website).
Is this longer than normal or about right? Any experiences from others?
I emailed the company around March 10 and they said my car was picked up by the trucking company on Monday, March 8 and that it should already be at the port by March 10.
Thanks!
MarcusW 03-13-2010, 08:47 AM Once the car reaches the port, it has to sit for 3 days (72 h) before it can be loaded on a vessel.
Simply consult the shipping lines schedule and allow for the three days and you may be able to predict which ship your auto will be on.

Ja, this is something in the past few years that is U.S. government mandated. The cars cannot be loaded onto a vessel until this period of time has passed.

It needs to be HTTPS.
You can also track the position of your ship once you know its name, using this.
http://www.vesseltracker.com/en/Ships/Oregon-Highway-9381665.html
This is my ship - currently not tracked because it's somewhere over the Atlantic.

Tomcat84 03-24-2010, 05:12 PM dropped mine off in Amsterdam december 31st, ship sailed january 21st... :(
flightjunkie 03-24-2010, 08:34 PM It took about 2 weeks for any information to show up on EH Harms' website because you won't see anything until it's loaded on the ship - which took 2 weeks.
I dropped off on March 5, and the information showed up on March 17 when my car was loaded. It's expected now in Houston (for delivery in Chicago) on April 5... can't wait!

Which dealership in Chicago did you order your car through?
nvofevery1 03-25-2010, 03:48 PM Dropped mine off in Munich on Feb 24. Ship sailed March 10, arrived in the states March 22. Car now sitting in purgatory until CBP decides to clear it. Going to take forever to get to me in Phoenix.
flightjunkie 03-25-2010, 08:38 PM I ordered through Fletcher Jones Audi in downtown Chicago.
WoodChuck11 03-26-2010, 08:56 PM We dropped our A5 off in Paris. It took 2 weeks to get on a boat, 5 weeks to get to SoCal, and another week in customs.
