I am picking up my Q5 ED on March 19. I signed the purchase contract yesterday.

I have seen a number of posting indicating that buyers much purchase an ipod interface cable. My dealer insists that the cable is now included on 2010 cars, and will be provided to me in Germany.

Has anyone recently picked up an ED car who can tell me if the cable was included in the car?

Thanks very much.

Randy Z.

Firstly, I don't have the answer to your question, but if I were you what I would probably do is buy it locally and take it with me on the trip. If Audi AG really provides you with one, then return the one you bought locally once you return.

Secondly, IMHO I think you should have created a separate thread for this post. It doesn't belong under "Tips for Audi ED". Don't be afraid to create a new thread. :)

I picked up a 2010 S4 on December 22nd 2009 and the cable was NOT included, the guy there said my dealer should've given it in the states before departure (it's listed on my order as NO CHARGE or something like that)

Maybe try contacting Gary to have him convince your dealer how it is.

Thanks for your fast reply. I also received a "build order" showing that the cable is no charge. My dealer did offer me a "loaner" cable, just in case one was not provided in Germany.

Your dealer should have one kicking around to use for 2 weeks.

I asked my dealer about the cable as well just couple of days ago. He will gladly provide me with the loaner just in case. So, just ask..

One way or another. I would go with one in hand so you know for sure you have it. This way, it will not be an unpleasant surprise.

I concur, doctor!:p
And take with you your iPod every time you live your car. I remember reading some were, that one ED driver lost his iPod during valet parking in 5 star hotel in Italy.

Good point on taking stuff out when you leave! Dont forget the GPS (including the mount).

Best to take the loaner cable from your dealership. I was not informed till I returned, but the Cable is a Port Item, meaning they put it in your car at the Port, which will do you absolutely no good in Germany;-) I found the SD card the way to go. If you can put MP3 files on it! Works perfect!!
