Please bear with me. I have done a cursory search of the archives and FAQ without much success. Since I am making an international connection to AOL and the phone lines are limiting my modem to 16k, I have pretty much had it. I am currently in Iceland and am contemplating buying the Bosch E-code headlights while I am here. What have people paid for theirs, and were there any installation problems? Also what is the difference between the Bosch and Valeo units. Thanks for your help.
Chris

Iceland...is it dark all winter up there? I have the Bosch E code lamps. The difference between the Bosch & Valeo lamps are as follows: Bosch uses a h-7 bulb for high and a h-7 low beam, h-1 for fogs. The Valeo uses an h-4 bulb for the hi and lows. When I looked into purchasing E code lamps the reviews gave the nod to the Bosch units. The Bosch units are better made and have a cleaner beam pattern. The difference between stock and the Bosch E codes is dramatic. Well worth it. You can get them from the following A4.org adverstisers. Autobahn & Greedspeed. I got mine from Sport Wheels with Bosch clear side markers for $495. Good luck.
Weren't you in LA before? Iceland....Iceland! I actually have a co-worker from there.
Not much to do there, according to him....professional sports? NOT.
I'll check around and see if I can drum up any info for you. How are those
icelandic roads reacting to the H&R coilovers?
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

I put the Bosch headlights in my A4 soon after I got it. I was in France last year and noted that most of the A4s there had a singl;e H4 unit for headlights - no integral fog, no separate high beam.
I noticed a tremendous difference between the Euro and US-spec lights on mine. The Euro has the right rise which is much better in this mostly rural area (VT) and throws a much more even pattern. Note also that Hellas have glass lenses vs polycarbonate for US-spec units. I got my lights from in.pro here in the US for around $400. I also tracked down and put some Hella Yellow Star H1s in my fogs.

Actually I was in San Diego for a while. Then Pensacola, FL, then Brunswick, ME. Since I left Maine in August (unfortunately had to leave the A4 there as well) I have been in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama and now Iceland. I have seen a fair number of A4's in each place. The only model the dealer here has is a non turbo, non quattro 1.8. I am seriously going into withdrawal.
Chris
down to 4 1/2 hours of daylight

Thanks for the info. LLTek has the Valeo units for $374 until Dec 25. Are the Bosch units better by $100 or so? As for the dealer here, the headlights are 44,000 kr or $675. I think I'll wait until I am back in the states.
I think we get down to about 1 hour of daylight here. Right now it is about 4 1/2 and I think we lose ~13 minutes/day. I hope to be out of here before that though.
Chris
