Are you guys aware of any changes to S8 during the course of the model year 2007? My experience with other makes is that during a first year run there will often be changes made without being officially announced - from software to trim - and they can only be determined by looking at VIN for manufacture date.
Please let me know if you are aware of any such changes

My comments refer to the US only as I have no idea about elsewhere:
First models (about 3 months) did not have the AMI interface fitted thought it can be retrofitted - my car was such a vehicle.
At some point the car lost the power outlet in the trunk. The early 07 had the outlet, the 09 does not so it went somewhere. Ditto the TPMS sensor on the spare wheel though the car has the electronics to detect a sensor if fitted.
Early models had the old style one piece headrest the same as all A8's at that time. Newer models collected a two-piece front headrest with adjustable "wings".
09 has a number of revisions to the styling.

That's where the headrest changes came in, as well as the grill, the rectangular foglights, the revised tail lights and mirrors. It may be where the piano black MMI surround came in too IIRC.

Don't know about the TPMS or the trunk outlet, or exact MMI cut in. I see the current spec talks about a space saver spare too, but that could just be the 18" 255 on the painted black baseline 5 spoke wheel like mine has.

For the original poster, it will be hard to really run this down exactly. Reading the TSB's and looking at listed VIN numbers will give you the best available sense of running updates. In any case, MMI has been updated at least twice from 2007 forward, and if you want the latest and greatest focus on current spec vs. historical 2007 running changes. Same for other most other things stored in memory or fluids (e.g. tranny).
