I am looking at used S8's. Can anyone tell me whether there are differences in the 2007 MMI from 2008 or 2009 that can NOT be remedied with a software update? IN particular, I saw a suggestion that an update is required to enhance the sound-staging of the B&O system. Also, is an update required for ipod usage (or better ipod control)? How about the use of a usb key for music?
If you could give me some info on this - or point me to a thread that I couldn't locate - it would be much appreciated?
Finally, if there are ways to quickly check the current, installed version, please tell me how to do so
Thanks

I have a early MY 2007 A8 with the B&O system, and have installed an AMI to play music from an iPod or USB. Originally, my MMI was version 27 (27.40), so I needed to upgrade to version 33 (33.60) for the AMI to show up in the MMI display. I typically use a USB key for my music source, which seems to work fine. However, the installation instructions for MMI version 41 (41.40) upgrade mention that it addresses a USB compatibility issue with AMI (if applicable). Offhand, I don't know what that issue might be. Anyone?
Finally, if there are ways to quickly check the current, installed version, please tell me how to do so
Thanks
Select the "Car" button on the MMI, then select the "Version" soft key, and the following screen will be displayed:

Your version is the number in the "SW:" line (33.6.0 in this example).
