I thought I would post this for any of you contemplating adding a theater to the rear of your A8. Vizualogic offers a DVD system with headrests that are said to be OEM. Since an A8 is not very common and since I have an Amaretto interior which is a bit rare also I was skeptical about what they could do for me OEM-wise.
When I called the Vizualogic headquarters they informed me that the outfit that makes their headrests also makes them for Audi Quattro GmbH for Euro cars. I felt better about things, but seeing is believing and I must say that, having them in hand, the leather is exactly the right color and the posts are exactly the same lenghth ,dia, and width as the original.
They list MY 06 for "non motorized headrests" and 07-08 for "motorized headrests". My A8 is an 04 but I knew that any year D3 headrest would fit, and I also know that all Audi A8 front headrests are motorized so I was confused. They had no photos available so I had to make some guesses as to what to order but now I can take out the guess work for anyone interested.
Since an 07-08 headrest would fit my 04 which has 'motorized' headrests, that is what I ordered. Turns out the headrests are of the 04-early 07 in style not the current style so I did not get an upgrade in that regard but that's OK. Have not done the install yet but this post will be continued when my car gets out of the body shop.
