I thought I would start a new post. I bought this unit but for the life of me cannot find the wiring harness. I have updated MMI, I have instructions printed and all ready to go just cannot find the wiring harness. Can someone please tell me where they hid it.

I have the bracket and instructions on where to put unit i just cannot find the wires to hook it up. In the instructions loccated here on page 3 it shows wiring harness behind the removable section in trunk. I loked everywhere in that sectiona nd could not find it anywhere. I was hoping someone could tell me exatly where the wiring harness is.

that link you posted does not work. The cables are in the compartment. However I think you need to unplug the cable from radio unit and connect it to the xm unit. I did that but then the satellite radio was playing and no radio. So I hooked it back to my other audi who once i took it off the whole MMI went dead.
Can you send me a copy of the diagram? And where can I find more diagram information?>
Thanks\

I have a 2004 a8 and there is no harness in it. I believe that if your center console button says radio and not am@fm on then it is not pre wired. I called the dealer with my vin# and they run it in the etka and it will say if sat radio is avail for your model.I was surprised because they say all a8 d3 are pre wired and my un updated mmi gives me the option under band for sat radio. I have all but given up on the idea.

Well that sucks, I thought they were all prewired. I just checked and my car says AM, FM and Sat radio and the sat radio option is greyed out. Has anyone tried to install a sat receiver on a 2004 audi A8 that is not prewired? This sucks!!!!
Here is the link for installing, it worked for me.

My 2004 A8L (Very low VIN, built in March 2003) was able to have XM added. I had just bought the car so I ordered the receiver and paid the dealer (one hour of labor) to properly install it as I did not have the Ross-Tech software yet.

The link worked for me yesterday (before you posted) and right now. In fact, I just printed it , a ten page document that covers installation procedure along with the coding procedure. If you still cannot open it, it may be that the server at "audibernardiparts" has your ISP blocked for some reason. If so, let me know and I'll email it to you a scanned copy.

I am new to this site and I am not very familiar with terminology and so I need to talk with someone who does have some knowledge and can explain things to me.
I have an A8L 2004 and and A6 2006 avant. After reading the pdf file I swapped the XM receiver from the A6 were it came standard and connected it on the A8L . I had tried it once before and my results were as follows. When I umplugged it from the A6 the whle MMI stopped functioning. Then On the A8L i connected it and used the Fiber optic cable from the radio. As a result I had only XM nad nothing else but it was working and so the rest of the Mmi.
I realized that I had to removed the ring from the A8L and connect that fiber optic end to the XM receiver and I put the ring on the A6. Now the MMI works fine on A6 and on the A8L i get all bands AM FM AND XM. I have no Vag Com tool so i did not do any coding but it works. Am I lucky on that one or for some reason I have already the upgrades? How can I check?
So I am pleased with that and I guess i need to buy the bracket to hold the XM receiver. If anyone bought the bracket does it come with all the nuts and screws or do I need to buy this separate?
Also I was looking on Kufatec and I see the have a USA site. I am curious to find whether I can add blue tooth on the A8L and possibly a connection for an MP3 PLAYEr (NOT I POD) or a cd changer that takes SD cards?
