got my VWTOOLS this week soo.<br>eagerly went out to vehicle with my toshiba laptop to do the following to my 1996 a4:<br>1/ recode delta radio (just for fun)<p>2/ see if i can talk to central locking module (looked in archives) and see if i can add remote to my car<p>3/ recode as per FAQ for door locks at 18mph, etc.<p>Bummer!<br>the only modules i could talk to were:<br>engine management<br>AC control<br>instrument panel<p>airbag failed, and i could not find anyother modules after going through the entire list!<br>(central locking, anti-theft,central convience)<p>HELP:<br>anyone with 1996 and VWTOOLS try doing the FAQ recoding? which module are u using/ talking to?<p>Steve S: are u sure u can add remote to 1996? I read your post (1997). But seems as though i have to have a radio module under the back seat (according to service manual) which i don't <p><br>1996 a4 2.8 qm

the baum tools is made by carcomp, so it is the same thing<p><br>1996 a4 2.8 qm<br>

Randall send an email to John Grable at CarComp. I had the same problem as you. The real problem is your computer. Some notebooks just don't work quite correctly with the car/VWTOOL software.<p>John will instruct you how to read the codes that are being sent/received for each module. He will then fine tune the software to work properly with your computer. Mine system just works fine after the tweaking. He usually responds within a day and sends the ugraded software as an email attachment. So you won't wait to long for a solution.
