Hi All,
does anyone have Adaptive Cruise Control option in his A5, just wonder can it brake the vehicle to standstill? as I read the brochure and it doesn't specify the operating range.
Thanks

No it cannot. I believe only the Q-series cars can do this. When you first activate it, a red arc will appear from 25 to 120 mph, indicating that's the range where the adaptive cruise will operate and follow the car in front of you. A brighter red arrow will be on top of the preferred speed you want to go. If traffic is going slow, it will adapt, and once it opens up, goes back to the preferred speed.
To give an honest review of the ACC I think it works great! Very smart system and you can adjust how aggressive you want to "tail" the car in front of you. Another cool feature is that the sensor is always running and will alert you if it thinks you're about to rear-end someone. I've never tested braking guard but that supposedly jolts your brakes to get your attention if it thinks an accident is emminent.
I don't think I would have gotten ACC originally, but the build I wanted was basically in-stock only with this extra option on it. Didn't want to wait 3+ months for one without so I opted for this option. I highly recommend it now, and think its very worth it!
Hope this helps.

I have iton my S5, it won't completely stop the car, but it hits the break extremely hard if you are getting close to the car ahead of you, it doesn't countinuously break the car, like applying based on how far you are constantly, it simply hits the break once you get within a certain range, which is farely close.
It's not obtrusive to your driving at all.

Can you turn off the "adaptive" part and use it like normal cruise control ?
