I have the original equip yokos on my S8. I wonder how they will be in NJ this winter? Dont want to spend any more on this car. spent enough. Anyone run these tires in the winter months in NJ area?

Thanks,

If you don't spend money on a set of winter tires you will more than likely be spending it at the body shop. The summer tires will be a nightmare in the white stuff!!

Agreed with JP court. If you are going to keep the car an alternate set of wheels and real all seasons will do just fine....the Yokos are really just rain tires...you will surely wind up in a guardrail in the snow. I run nokian WRs in the winter in 18" wheels. not cheap tire, but wear like iron and i drive to Vermont on them every weekend...no amount of snow or weather has not been manageable by this car with those tires...

When we do get snow I usually drove around in my A6 with all weather high perf tires. When it was real bad I borrowed my bro in laws H3 or my dads range rover. I can honestly say that I bought an awd car and shouldnt be worried if we get an inch of snow.

Low temperatures will do it for just about the same. You don't need snow. Summer tires are designed for ........ summer
The rubber goes hard and they lose grip. Add some modest tread wear and you will be fine until you need the grip most in an emergency.
Your car is expensive but your life is slightly more valuable. Treat yourself to a decent set of winters or, if you don't have the snow concern, a set of M&S all seasons.

I dont want to risk my life or damage the car. I would do snow tires from Dec-March but need a good set of wheels. any recommendations?
