MY 2007 A8 LEASE IS GOING TO EXPIRE DEC 2009. THE MSRP WAS $80,000...THE RESIDUAL IS $42,000....LOVE THE CAR..HAS 35,000 MILES. QUARTZ GRAY/BLACK.MINT CONDITION.MY STATE COLORADO DOES NOT ALLOW ONE TO DEAL DIRECT WITH AUDI REGARDING PURCHASE...MUST GO THROUGH DEALER...ANY IDEAS AS IF AUDI WOULD SELL THE CAR BELOW RESIDUAL?...WHAT WOULD BE A GREAT PRICE? AND THE BEST WAY TO APPROACH THIS...PS...2009 A8 RESIDUALS ARE 36% ON A 36 MO LEASE VS MINE OF APROX 52%...THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INSIGHT.

If your buy-out price is $42,000, you're doing okay. Still significant warranty left -- will they CPO it? Good '07s with this mileage are going a little less than yours (like $38-$41k).

Is yours a SWB? Sport package? Good, I'll take it off your hands so you don't have to make this decision.

Below is a list of 2007 A8 4.2 that went through the sale. These are actual transactions. These cars are offered for sale front line ready. Didn't know what region you were in so I included the entire country. $42000 isn't bad and if you like the car go for it. I would ask the Audi dealer to work the CPO warranty into the deal for you if you were to purchase the car. Usually they need to open a service ticket, check the car out mechanically in order to register the CPO warranty. This would be at your cost, but worth it if you wanted to keep the car.

Not entirely apples to apples - but another regional data point for you. I picked up an 07 A8L a few weeks back with ~6K miles for ~53K including CPO. original MSRP was around 83K. Hope that helps.

I recently bought my 2006 SWB Sport Package at the end of my lease in SoCal. Residual per lease was $39,300. I contacted several local dealers - they all were able to offer a CPO purchase at less than the residual. I ended up buying the car at 31,300 miles for $36,200. Dealer paid the CPO fee and warranty was extended to 6 yr/100,000.
