When I have not driven my 2004 A8L for a day or two .. or if it is a cold morning .. I try to shift from park to drive .. and it won't shift .. takes about 30 seconds .. and will slam in, if I have given her any gas.

Dealership keeps saying no codes and can't re-create issue at dealership.

Any suggestions?

This works on my BMW E38 with the ZF auto to reset the adaptive settings and fixing these Issues. It is supposed to work on all cars equipped with ZF auto boxes.

Insert the Key (DON’T HOLD THE BRAKE).
Turn everything on without starting the car, just so the car electronics start and show the Engine light is on. (Again, Don’t START the Engine).
Press and HOLD the GAS PEDAL all the way to the force down click on the gas pedal for 25 seconds.
After those 25 Seconds, proceed to Starting the Engine and drive your car.

Please let me know if this works. I would also recommend changing the fluid and filter on your transmission ASAP!

Hope it helps,

Nick
