This will be my first Audi. Looking at used 2008-09. I have a history of sportier cars (bmw 540, MB E55) but I don't absolutely have to have the V10 (as much as I'd like it). I think I'd be happy in a SWB A8 with the B&O audio. Here are the issues: (i) tough to find SWB with B&O and (ii) price spread is "only" 15-20K on same year/mileage.

Would you pay the 15-20 extra for the S8 under these circumstances?

What do you think about my desire to stay with SWB vs L? I'm basing it on my guess that handling won't be as sharp. I don't care about the rear seat room but it increases the available inventory.

Obviously, I will do tons of test drives but would love to hear our views.

I just got an 07 SWB with sport and preferred packages. If you're looking at an A8 SWB, I'd definatly recommend the sport package. I find myself using the paddle shifters often, and the transmission shifts quickly, unlike that in my 02 S6.

btw. I find the stock Bose stereo to be good.
