Default Can anyone tell me where the purple/black wire of the FP connector goes?

Is it hot/12v? My #17 fuse no longer blows if I disconnect that wire. Not sure if it is the sender unit or a short in the wire. TIA my Bentley CD only says "302 moved temporarily" and i'm not sure what that problem is.

The "hot" 12v from the FP relay to the FP is green with a yellow stripe.

From the Bently, pg. X63 (35) Track 171, 92-93 S4, the Violet/Black wire is from the fuel gauge sending unit to the the fuel gauge via pin 3 on a T26 connector (presumably at the back of the instrument cluster).

Doesn't do it when it is disconnected.

Probably damaged during the FP install. Might be fixable. You are going to have to pull the sender out to inspect it. (It might become obvious when you do this, e.g. wire insulation gone and touching metal near the top of the tank/trunk. Probably an easy fix (elecricians tape)).

OK DAVE....here's what i've got. There is a fray in the wire so I assume that is the problem. But why? the wire doesn't seem to be insulated. I'm going to replace the sender.

Gasoline (the liquid) is an extremely poor electrolyte. As a result, you can have bare + and - wires immersed in the liquid gasoline without any fear of a spark jumping between them, causing a fire. However, ABOVE the liquid, such a spark would very likely cause an explosion.

There are bare wires on the sender. I thought that you would find a portion of the insulated sender wire near the edge of the access port/hole/top of fuel tank that was causing the dead short = blown fuse.

Quick Reply: Can anyone tell me where the purple/black wire of the FP connector goes?
