i am getting ready to order a new a4q prestige w/ 19" sport. my current cars are an '08 s4 wagon and a mini cooper mcs manual. the mini has a hill-holder clutch( works with the dsc). i drove an a5 20t 6mt today and the car is a little touchy off the line at low or part throttle. also, it has an electronic parking brake. if the '10 a4 6mt's don't have a hill holder clutch, can a person use the electronic parking brake in cities like san francisco?

Not sure about San Francisco hills, but on lesser hills you can use the auto-disengage function of the E-brake.
If you are buckled in the e-brake disengages as you start to drive off - you don't need need to do anything. It's pretty much seamless. I've read that the E-brake will warn when you are on a hill that exceeds it's hold capability.

it seems that the e-brake function that you described will work great.
