As a quick reminder, my 2009 A4 was delivered to me on the last day of October 2008 (it was ordered near the end of March, 2008.) It is a 2.0T tiptronic, Prestige, 19" sport package, ADS, Nav, wood, sunshades.

9,000 miles ago, I replaced all four OE tires with Yokohama Advan S.4's (255x35x19" UHP all-seasons). All work, including the tires and routine maint has been performed at the purchasing dealer.

The tires were load force balanced -- but just like many other folks, I noted a vibration around 65mph+ -- this vibration or shimmy could not be balanced out (but it is, frankly, minor, minor, minor -- but it IS there.)

New control arms (with the heavy-duty rubber bushings) were ordered about a month ago.

They came in today. They are being replaced today. I'll report in a day or two.

Meantime, the rubber seal surrounding the passenger front door came loose. Actually, the reason I went to the dealer today was NOT for the control arms, it was for the rubber door seal.

The seal came unglued. Read on.

Ahh, you see the glue formulation was changed AFTER my car was built apparently -- so, according to the dealer, "We've seen a few of these come off and we have to remove the seal and re-glue it."

They handed me the keys to a new A4 Prestige, fully equipped (but without the sport package) and said, "see you tomorrow."

I'll have the new control arms and the new glue.

New glue, who knew?

"It's always something my little Roseanne Roseanna Danna."

PS & BTW -- hopefully we'll get a report from Kevin about his new APR'd 2.0T (I got a sneak preview via email, already.)

Mark - can you ask the dealer if there is a TSB I can reference for the control-arm vibration issue? I'm going to make an appointment for next week, and I'd like to give them some supporting documentation.

Thanks

I had exactly the same issue with the rubber seal on the passenger door. It came loose and I just popped it back in. Didn't know it's supposed to be glued. My car was manufactured in Dec 08.

Thanks for the info, Mark, I guess I will have to visit the dealer to fix it for good.

Same here...picked up mine last Sept. & the passenger side seal popped out while I was showing it off to a bunch of friends (great 1st impression of a new Audi)...popped it back in and it hasn't happened since then.

I contacted my dealer yesterday re the driveline vibration issue, and they advised me that AoA is telling their dealers to hold off customers noticing this problem for 30-60 days while Audi works out a fix. Apparently, Audi is testing out a possible fix on a few customers like Mark before authorizing a widespread fix program for all complaining customers. I was told to check back in 30 days to see if a fix program is in place.

A few weeks back my driver's door came unglued. I made an appointment and double-sided taped it back up. When I did that, two things: There was no noticeable glue residue - it is like it just evaporated! 2) The rubber seal was stretched - about an inch of slack when I taped it up.

So my car goes in tomorrow morning and... Monday the passenger door drops as well! So I will be getting them to change both of those and also suggest they change the back doors as it seems that it is only a matter of time.

Incidentally, my car build date was at the end of January 2009.

A few people on the AZ forum (maybe the same guys here!) have posted about this.
