View Full Version : Voice Command of Phone Problem

Dear All,

I have a bizarre one, I think. I bought a 2008 B8 1.8T and from the moment I had it, I had the voice dialling feature, even though I do not have Sat Nav installed. At the time I didn't know that it was unusual to have this option. I could push the Voice button and there would be a 'beep' and then I could say 'Dial Number' and the nice lady would say "The number, please". Worked perfectly and I loved it.

About 6 months after I bought the car, the whole phone/bluetooth system crashed and I took the car back to the dealer to have it rectified. Apparently they replaced the computer system with a like system - ha! I think not!

Following that, the voice dialling option disappeared. Now nothing happens, the beep happens, but it doesn't hear anything I say and a 'ding dong' bell sounds and nothing happens! I am very disappointed with this, for the simple fact that I used it all the time.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm in Australia and the Audi Dealership was very rude about the whole thing, saying that it was 'impossible' for me to have this system in the car and "am I sure I'm not confusing my car with someone else's?" How rude! I had it, I lost it, no-one knows why and if anyone could shed some light on how this could have happened, I would be most grateful.

Thanks

wow - your dealership sucks!

I'd get on the horn to Audi Australia to hash it out with them as they can find out what your car came with from the factory and rectify any issues. They (depending on AU Law) may also slap em like the lil kids they're acting like.

I believe it is there, just not turned on -- if you have the bluetooth function, that is. Perhaps there is a "bit" that the VAG-com cable and software program could turn back on.

If your dealer is being an arse, well, hell -- you'll have to go to someone who has been there done that to switch the bit from '0' to '1' -- at least that is what I gather it would take to accomplish a fix for your situation.

Guys, thanks very much for your help - I guess I just go to the dealership and ask them to switch the system from '0' to '1' (whatever that means).

The dealership has been terrible to deal with, but we have a friend who works at the central dealership in our city, so hopefully it will go better there...

Cheers
