Default How much should I be satisfied with from my insurance co. for a total loss?

The body shop thinks it will need a full respray and thus be a total. How much should I be satisfied with when the insurance co. calls me? I want to be prepared to accept or decline their offer. I assume I can always bump them up a little. 95.5 w/200k and tons of upgrades (not worth anything to ins.). $4k? $6K? $7.5K?

Take the money and buy it back and part it out. Don't take anything less than you feel it's worth.

But what is it worth to them? I'm going to buy it back and fix it. I feel it's worth $15,000 but they won't give me that. Nor would anyone else. What have others recieved for their cars lately?

I know it will take a while but you need to tell them what you want for it and see what they offer either that or forget about and just fix the car.

So where is a good starting point? $7500? I don't want to say $15k because it will make me look like an idiot who doesn't know what he is talking about and thus discredit any further dealings I have with them.

I don't think your gonna more than book value unless you had the car insured for a certain amount of money. KBB 95 s6 with 200k

Excellent $4,850

Good
$4,350

Fair
$3,750

Others have asked this question in te past and have solicited requests regarding recent purchase prices or recent insurance payouts. You might want to try and ask what others have recently paid for cars or received from recent insurance settlements.

Sucks. I had my 95 red get totaled in Dec. It had recently been completely repainted at Dicks there was not ONE scratch/ding/etc on it. It was pretty much stock other than a chip, springs, struts, some Euro lenses, etc.

Insurance company started at 4500+tax, got them 5800+tax.

I could have gone the independent route but the one recommended to my by Dick's said it is crap shoot since there just isn't enough examples of the cars out there for them to get a comparison.

In my case, they didn't give a **** what the NADA or KBB said... and they said the interior was "below average for the age" because I had a tear in the driver's seat.... getting pissy just thinking about it again... ugh.
