Heck, strike that, Hell, I already know the answer. Is it possible for some reasonable amount of money to upgrade to the 3G MMI.

Now, this question coming from yours truly who would typically answer said question with a true answer, "yes, but it depends on how high the stack of $100 dollar bills is."

Is this one of those rare situations where an upgrade is possible without something that is breathtakingly expensive?

Hope springs eternal.

BTW -- 2G works, and it works very well -- it is, well, "old tech."

You're better off trading in for a 2010.

Formerly know as "navplus.us"

Most of the attempted 2G to 3G retrofits have been A6s but A4/5 can't be far behind.

I don't have a direct link to any of the threads/writeups but you can read about them there.

Just a cursory look at one, with all the parts and labor required to that point (i.e. mid-upgrade; not even functioning yet), told me all I needed to know about it.

I have a link at home to another audi forum that's just about this. I'll post it up when i go home. I believe it is possible

I didn't realise how inferior the 2G MMI Nav was until I used it on a few trips. It would be nice if Audi offered an upgrade but I doubt that. It's cheaper and better to just use my Garmin Nuvi for travel.
