Is it ok to chip a brand new car or is it better to wait for any break-in period to pass?

I'm not sure if Audi advises against "spirited" driving during an initial period or not. I'd hate to have the car chipped but not really be able to test it out. It seems like some of you are heading straight to the tuner right after purchasing your cars so maybe this isn't an issue.
