Hello to everybody on the forum. I'm 3 days away from picking up my 2010 Q5 Prestige and I'm quite excited.

Regarding the music interface, I was planning to put all my music on a 32GB SDHC card and listen to it from there. I need to confirm a few things about that:
1. Another post (http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2750350&highlight=SDHC) mentions that according to the specification, 32 GB SDHC cards are indeed supported on the models with MMI Navigation Plus. Can somebody confirm that it works in practice?
2. Is the AAC format (from iTunes) supported? (it should be)
3. Is there a limit to the number of files on a card? (I hope not)

Thank you.

The only one I can answer is the iTunes question. No, DRM protected AAC files from iTunes are not supported. Only the music since iTunes went DRM free is supported.

Guys on the A4 forum have some luck with 32Gb SDHC cards... I guess it depends on firmware and possibly brand. Q5 is MMI 3G so it most likely has the latest firmware. Also if I remember correctly the manual recommends Class 4 or higher for quicker access.

As for #3, there are limits for each source type in the MMI manual. I believe the card limit is 4000 (sorry at work, will correct if neccessary when I get home).

Last night I tried an ancient 1GB card and for whatever reason the sound quality didn't match up to my ipod when used as source. EQ on ipod is 'off' so not sure why the difference exists. Also it doesn't have a similar interface to the ipod menu, just lists the directories on the SD card. I'll probably just use ipod and leave the SD empty.

You can use a 32GB card. You can use an AAC file but not a DRM file (m4p). There is a limit to the number of files and folders but I will have to check the MMI 3G manual to be sure.

Keep in mind that when you use an SD card the MMI will display whatever folder structure that is on the card - it won't show the different artist/album/genre views that you get on the HDD jukebox or with an iPod.

Initially I didn't want to go the iPod way because I didn't want to carry it in and out of the car all the time. But now that you mentioned it, I realized that I can buy a used iPod for about the same price as a good 32GB SDHC card and just leave it in the car. Cool.

Why not get like a 4GB card and just gradually copy all your music into the internal hard drive that the Q5 has? I think its got about 40gb of free space.

30GB of the hard drive is taken up by the navigation maps so you only have 10GB leftover. I have two 8GB cards in my Q5 that work fine. Got them a few months ago for about 10 bucks each, just had them laying around so I went with them.

ah good point. this article (http://www.iamaudi.com/audi-jukebox-how-do-i-import-music/) points out that there is about 12-15GB left.

Haven't yet got my Q5 - hopefully late September - Garnet Red S-line 3.0TDI with MMI/B&O etc.

Nobody seems to have asked the question yet, but here goes. Is the 40Gb HD accessible and change-able? Is it a standard 3.5" PC hard-disk. I have several high capacity disks lying about doing nothing.

Unfortunately no. You can add additional storage for music by using an external HD or iPod, but can't replace the internal HD.
