View Full Version : Took my Q5 in for service today... FitzLA 08-05-2009, 07:32 PM And they reset all the VAG changes I had made back to default! A$$holes! I can't believe they did that. Now I gotta see if the guy can change them back for me again. Dammit!! BeachRat 08-05-2009, 08:54 PM That flat out sucks. AudiCO 08-05-2009, 09:02 PM Is that standard practice for dealers (i.e. deliberate), or do you think they had to install an update that resulted in the restored defaults? Either way, sorry to hear that. FitzLA 08-05-2009, 09:22 PM Is that standard practice for dealers (i.e. deliberate), or do you think they had to install an update that resulted in the restored defaults? Either way, sorry to hear that. I talked to the guy who originally changed the setting for me, and he said he has never had that happen to him. I am guessing that they installed an update that restored them to factory settings. I hope it doesn't happen again though. I'm getting it redone tomorrow. phxflyboy 08-05-2009, 09:49 PM You mind posting your system versions for comparion? I'm STILL trying to get answers to my "lack of updated POI" issue. phxflyboy FitzLA 08-05-2009, 10:01 PM You mind posting your system versions for comparion? Database Version and one for the Software Version. If you don't mind, I'd like to know what both are in yours. Thanks for the time to look. phxflyboy TIME89 08-06-2009, 09:02 AM I talked to the guy who originally changed the setting for me, and he said he has never had that happen to him. Fitz, did your guy charge you for each settings? or more genereic question - how this work : you take your Q to his house etc, how much he charge? Poncherelly 08-06-2009, 09:15 AM Don't forget guys, you can always go to http://www.vagtoolfinder.com/ and search for people in your area with a VAG cable that might be wiling to help. sorry to pimp my site so much ;) BeachRat 08-06-2009, 10:04 AM Thanks for that info, Poncherelly, it may come in handy once mine arrives. FitzLA, I may also ask you for your VAG guy's name, if that's amenable. November is still a ways off, though... FitzLA 08-06-2009, 10:05 AM Fitz, did your guy charge you for each settings? or more genereic question - how this work : you take your Q to his house etc, how much he charge? They don't (can't) charge anything for it. Many will just ask for a 6 pack of beer. My guy asked for nothing, so I "tipped" him some $$. It's whatever you feel is appropriate. And yes, I drive to his house. You have to make sure the person you find has the proper cable, the CAD cable. Most I found had the old cable. I only found one in my area with the correct cable for the Q5. BlackPrestige 08-07-2009, 08:51 AM Fitz, the dealership will always change the settings back to where they should be. When you change them, it shows as an error and thus audi will always correct it. rjhagner 08-09-2009, 06:57 AM And they reset all the VAG changes I had made back to default! A$$holes!
