Many have complained about finding water in between the rear pillars and the trunk after a car wash or heavy rain. Simple solution - EPDM rubber waterproof stripping around the outside of the trunk. Just tested it in today's torrential downpours in NY, NJ. Not a drop of water. YMMV (sorry for the low res cameraphone pics).

Well thank you. And where do you get the stipping?

Well, thanks for the info. However, on Audi's part, it doesn't look right to me paying $40000 to $50000 for car and having to recur to things like that (I am actually on doubt of buying)

Bob:
it was either pep boys or autozone.
Lorenz:
i would agree but it's an easy fix. audi did do a great job on multiple seals for the doorsills. i can't understand why they didn't do it for the trunk.
Other thought I had was using some silicone caulking to seal the open joint at the top and top-corners of the trunk. i think that's where the water seeps in and dribbles down.

Nice fix , but c'mon you have to be kidding! Maybe on an old camper shell, but on a 2009 $40,000+ car??!!
Is this a major design flaw or just an annoyance? Does water get into the car cabin, or just dribble out of this area?
Do Q7's have this problem? If not why not?

I haven't noticed this to be a problem at all.

Thanks for posting. This is not a major issue, merely an annoyance, BUT agree with the others- unacceptable on a car - any car, let alone one in this price range. Audi should be working on the fix and offer it n/c to al
I've had no problems with water entering the cabin on my 2010 model

I have not had any problems with this. It is normal for water to get in all of the door jams. The water does not get into the car so it is sealed properly.

I noticed the water in the cargo area when I rented a Q7 in Florida- after a thunderstorm passed I pushed the tailgate lift and dumped about a quart of water in the back. I haven't experienced it with my new Q5, but I havent drenched it yet, either...

I got a solution for this water "problem"...its called an accelerator. Punch it hard, drive the car like it was meant to be driven, and the water will be left far behind in the ditch :-)
