All 4 were inflated to 51PSI!!! I think they set to the spare tire recommended PSI at PDI... I've driven 500km like this. Anyone know if I might have damaged something?

I let out the air and set all 4 to 33PSI and the ride is much better lol... I attributed the stiff ride to the 20" rims .

Hello GolfGL Does this reveal that there's no PSI indicator on the dash display under driver info?? Just curious.. Happy Motoring

My tire pressure was the same (51 psi) when I took delivery. Was one rough ride home from dealership, thought I might be tire pressure, waited til next day and adjusted to manufacturer spec and reset TPMS. All well since. Must be an Audi shipping thing.

The TPMS system is indirect and uses existing wheel speed sensors to detect an underinflated tire... in this case since all 4 were at 51PSI, there was no speed differential at any one wheel!

Not sure if US still mandates direct TPMS (pressure sensor inside tire with RF transmittor) or if NHTSA allows indirect system nowadays.

You actually touched on one of my few complaints of my Q5, no indication of WHICH tire is low or of what the actual PSI of any of the tires is. I have driven far less expensive Chevy models that tell you the exact tire pressure of each tire. I was a little disappointed in the lack of this, especially at this price point.

This is new to me also since the convenient TPMS was on my last unit ... Will have to dust off the tire pressure gauge and do it the old fashion way,, Thanx for the clarification GolfGL

They are over pressurized for shipping. It goes to show you how much they are checked out before you take delivery. Mine were in the mid 40's and it was the first thing I checked. It seems to be something that is always over looked by dealerships.

No problem... on the plus side, you don't need to spend on new sensors when you get a new set of tires!

Just checked my tires, and all were consistent down at 36 PSI, a level that makes for a very nice ride I might add...I am choosing to leave them right there actually, not going down to the 33psi that is posted on the driver-side pillar. I've now locked the sensor at that level.

By the way, those who find that their tires are jacked up to 51psi are victims of PDI checks that were not thorough. When the cars are shipped on the boat, they jack up the psi to the max allowable, because the cars are strapped down on the boat, compressing them tightly in place. When they are delivered, it is up to the dealer to reduce the psi to the proper level. Seems like that was not done in many cases around the U.S. Oh well, the tire gauge tells no lies!

Mine was at 36 as well, I'm happy with that pressure.

51 PSI upon delivery here as well...
