Default Under hood temps.

Quick question. Has anybody pulled off under hood weather strips to try to increase air flow? It seemed to help a bit on my old neon.(yeah i know, i had a neon) Anyways these cars seem to hold in a lot of heat. Any reductions in under hood temp. would be great. Think I'm gonna try it. Just hope there aren't any big negatives like noise increase and water getting to places it shouldn't. (Like relays and HVAC) So let me know if anybody thinks this a good or bad idea.

I would say bad. I imagine it was put there for a reason and any gains would be minimal at best and potential problems... maximal. Hey, a new word.

Yeah, "maximal"....bet your right. Haven't done it yet. A luvered hood would be cool. Anybody ever have that done?

Why are you so concerned with this? Ze Audi engineers gave us an after run cooling system that should help stabilize the under hood temps after the engine is shut off. If it is not working on your car, I'd look into fixing it.
The air flow is probably more than adequate while driving.

I don't hear sh*t after I turn my car off...except maybe my oil cooking in the turbo. I do try to let the car run for about two min. before shutting it off after long drives, but sometimes woman and kid are in hurry. So the fan is supposed to keep running I take it. Great, another thing wrong with my old car. Does my fan work at all? (a question to myself) It stays normal temps. in city driving.
Any advice on were to start here. 1. fuse, 2. relay, 3. ??? jump 12v to fan???

It's not just the electric fan, the car also has an electric coolant pump that works as the after run setup.
Seeing how you are in Michigan, I have to say that this summer (at least here in Toronto) the temperatures were not high enough to make the after run system kick in. Usually, mine kicks in after stop and go traffic conditions on scorching hot days.
