Looks great! I got my airbag today, so install should happen soon. Did you have any problems with the install? Anything I should look out for when I install mine? Did you use the instructions/VAG codes that Alex gave you or did you use the codes that one of the other members posted on this forum?

No problems on the install, codes Alex gave work fine.

The only thing that you should be aware of is that even if you line the 2 center marks (on the wheel and steering column), the wheel may not be straight. So you have to play around with it, perhaps a notch eitherr clock- or couunter-clockwise would do it. For me (and a few others), the wheel was nnot perfectly straight when I matched the 2 center marks, so going one notch of the center mark made it perfect.

Guess I just lucked out, I had no Idea of those center marks. I just made sure my wheels were perfectly straight before starting and after putting new wheel on seems to be dead center

Looks sweet. I have the brushed aluminium trim, so it would really fit in nicely. On the other hand, I did like the TT flat bottom wheel, which has the same functionality as the stock RS4 wheel. Anybody know if that fits ?
Besides looks, I think there is a **** good reason to fit this. I hit the bottom of the steering wheel with my (not chunky) thighs every time I get in the car and lock the wheel. It's a pain in the butt.

What functions work/don't work on the wheel buttons?

Have you tested cruise control functionality? I use it so infrequently that it came as quite a surprise when I found it was lost during the install / recoding of my euro wheel... I just realized it earlier this week (after over a year of use) so I haven't even attempted to fix it yet. Just curious if you have the same issue.

CC works just fine, maybe you didn't do the full coding?

once coding is done properly. This means you have control of the "S" button, lap timer and trip computer/instrument cluster display. Unfortunately you lose the radio functions and phone functions at the steering wheel.
The "S" button on the dash also becomes inactive once the coding is completed for the steering wheel.

So again I ask, would the Wheel from the TT/R8 fit ? It has the same buttons as the stock wheel, has a flat bottom and passes all North American crash tests.
Anybody ?

Anybody ? I believe there was someone that tried the Euro RS6 wheel and took off the paddle shifters. At least that's what he was planning to do but haven't seen him post since then. I wonder if Alex would know because his shop I think sells the Euro RS66 wheels.
The TT (S-Line) and R8 steering wheels are skinnier in girth relative to the Euro RS4 wheel. I know of several people that were about to change to them but ultimately that was a deal stopper.

Interesting. I had a 2008 3.2 TT, and the wheel in that was perfect. Chunky, nice to grip with indents in all the right places and easy to get into the car with. I would love to put that wheel into my RS4 if I could get some reassurance it would fit. Controls wise it has to work, it's the same controls.

Yeah, the TT S-line wheel is def chunkier than the stock (pretzel-thin) US RS4 wheel, but less thick than the Euro RS4 wheel. Also, the diameter might be a bit bigger than the Euro wheel.
Control wide, I recon it should work, in the Euro RS4 conversion you end up using the stock US harness.

however they use a different airbag than the RS4 Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel. This means that in fact you are getting a US spec/crash tested steering wheel but an airbag that isn't designated to the RS4. That is a choice I leave up to customers when installing anything but the RS4 Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel. No one has officially ever confirmed how airbag fitment is performed, my speculation is that it is by chassis and engine as the part numbering system follows that speculation. Some claim all the airbags are the same regardless of part numbers when it comes to units of the same style/shape.
Several customers have done the RS6 unit in other models and I don't believe anyone has done the RS4 yet, but it's not a huge ordeal and yes the RS6 steering wheel wheel is a bit "chunkier" which I prefer, however if you like the TT or R8 style than that can work as well.

Do you lose your bluetooth phone connectivity or does it just have to be reset after the install/recoding. Just did mine today. Looks/works great, but phone doesn't connect.

+1 BT is not lost after proper recoding.
BTW, did you guys get the BT phone module replaced? Allegedly it was a recall, had it done in Dec by the dealer.

Was surprised about that too, but he pulled the VIN and said all RS4 need this.
Just make sure it works when you get it back! My iPhone (or any other BT device I tried) didn't work, had to go back and wait for hrs for them to figure it out. Turns out they never initiailized or tested it!
I was really hoping the new module will eliminate the super annoying noise that comes on briefly before the call goes though initially. Do you guys get this? It's almost like the emergency broadcast signal on radios! Annoying as hell and super loud!

It's like a loud electrical buzz, right? I almost got into an accident the first time it happened to me.
