I would change it every 5k miles or 1 year. Whichever comes first.

yes. AoA says 10k miles is good enough but I would say with Castrol Syntec is fine to about 5k.


I am also planning to do a oil analysis to see how things look.

depends on usage:

high service, ie, in town, stop & go, short trips ~5k miles

light duty:

Which washer is recommended to change when doing an oil change? I just got some renewable lubricants bio-synth oil and going to get it changed this weekend.

oil change done every 6 months. I use Motul in the spring. Castrol syntec in winter.

Oil changes done at 1k, 4k, 7k, and now 9,500 miles. Motul Excess 5/40.

I pay for my 5K intervals, the 10K are under the maintenance plan. The Castrol has proven really bad for this engine for anything over 4-5K miles, talk about dilution. Many people have sent their oil for analysis to Terry Dyson, he is a great expert. Def don't wait 10K miles, even if you lease the car show her some love!
