http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3387/3425451476_15428bde6f_d.jpgThanks to LI-S4 (Michael) for crafting me this cool Stealth kit for my V1 and providing all the factory trim so I could revert back to stock if I want to. stevet05A8L (Steve) helped me with the install and didn't need to drill anything.
Here are the results.
The volume controls are in place of the daytime running lights and parking lights knobs. There is also a thimble-sized speaker that is located in the driver side air-conditioning vent.

The aforementioned controls are now secured in the fuse compartment, strapped down so they don't bounce around. I rarely change these settings, so I don't mind opening the fuse box if to change them if I have to.

I actually didn't even realize how dusty the dashboard is until I saw this picture, but the concealed display in the dashboard trim is put together pretty well.

To justify the concealed display, I simply couldn't have the V1 mounted in the traditional location, above and to the left of the rearview mirror. The main unit display is in plain view, and so are all the controls. What would be the point of having another display and another set of controls?
However, I did feel that the V1 mounted in the traditional location was too conspicuous and I had to take it down too often. Now I am using the visor clip and clipping it to the passenger side sun visor.

The V1 can't be seen from outside the car unless one is crouching down and looking up. Now it feels well hidden from would-be robbers and most importantly, I can't really see the main unit display or fiddle with the controls, thereby justifying the concealed kit!
Here's a shot from outside where I am taking a picture from half height to make the unit visible.

It is a lot of fun watching the arrows on the concealed display first point up, then to the side, then finally backwards as I pass bogeys on the freeways. Actually, it's the same as it ever was, just way more novel now.

Look's like a perfect fit. I have an Escort 9500i passport. Thinking of switching over to v1. Is the v1 significantly better? The only reason for switching at this point is because it would be more asthetically pleasing.
