can someone with insight to the allocation process tell me how it works. I want the 3.0 t s5 RIGHT WHEN IT COMES OUT. I have a deposit down on it. Now when orders are being taken, how can i assure that i get it quickly and not have horror stories of waiting around. Why i ask is because i just got into a lexus IS 250 lease until next summer which is when my dealer gave me estimated delivery. How can i assure ill get it asap???

well, i was just talking to my dealer about that yesterday and he said he still has 5 S5s on backorder, with 2 of them being 1yr+. they're not accepting any new orders.

I've been looking as well. I'm reasonably confident one can find 2009 S5's at various dealers, just not every dealer.

So, how does pre-ordering work? I was told the dealer wouldn't accept a pre-order until the pricing books came out this Summer, but I've read about other people here placing orders two model years out. For instance, I might be interested in placing an order for a 2011.
