I rarely use S mode. I leave it in D and when I need a lower gear, I grab it. S mode I'd don't find useful. I wish for more control in manual.

Only time I found S mode useful was when I was doing a 'spirited run' and was chasing down the Porsches in front of me. I kept up very well, but I just think they were more cautious.

I got about 14mpg during it.

I use D until the car/tranny is warmed up, or in heavy traffic. Most of the time I am in manual mode. Since having the HPA DSG stage 2 flash applied, manual is "manual." While accelerating, the engine will bounce off the rpm limit until I shift, but the dsg will not downshift except to keep the engine from stalling. When fully warmed-up, that is right around 800rpm. If in 4th gear, for example, braking to a stop the dsg will shift into 2nd gear near the 800rpm mentioned.

If you engage the cruise control, it will go to '6'.

I have never noticed this. Interesting.

I'm glad to hear you liking the reflash! It's as DSG should be OEM, in my small opinion.

I very rarely use S-mode. D or manual.

It's called D-mode. I don't see how anyone could use S-mode in daily driving; it's far too aggressive.

open sky.... i never said i use it with daily driving, that would be crazy. id average 5mpgs.

but thanks for the useless input, poiting out that there is in fact a "d" mode on the tranny. durrrrrrrrrrr
