Would taking out the resonators in my exhaust on my 09 S5 void the warranty, or for a new exhaust system to do the same. The interior is too quiet and i can barely hear that wonderful V8 and i don't want to spend too much money or void my warranty. While we're on the subject what conditions are needed to void the audi warranty, like would a supercharger void it?

if a dealer can prove that a non-oem product that was installed, or an oem part was modified/removed, was the cause of an issue, they can deny the warranty claim. However, a mod does not void the warranty on "the car".

Case in point, if you added an SC, and broke the driveshaft, your warranty claim to fix the driveshaft will probably be denied.

But if you added a SC, and your rain sensor on your windshield malfunctioned, it should be covered. Do not be surprised, however, if a dealer does not want to work on a modded car.. right or wrong, there is a range of viewpoints from dealers on modifications, despite what the law states (lookup the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act....)

My dealer told me that a new exhaust would not void my warranty. In fact, they had a used RS4 on their lot with an aftermarket Milltek exhaust and a CPO warranty. Either way it's worth it, this engine sounds sinister after some changes.

Also, just recently (around 18,000 miles for me) I had a fuel sensor replaced under warranty, no questions asked, at a dealer that had never met me or seen my car until it came in on a flatbed with a check engine light. After that I would say I'm still under warranty, and there's no way anyone could not notice how much louder my car is over stock. (AWE downpipes and non resonated Milltek Exhaust.)

+1

They key is whether the dealer can prove that the aftermarket product caused the fault.

My check engine light came on yesterday. I have just over 18,000 miles and I also have AWE downpipes with a Stasis exhaust. It goes in Thursday, thank god for the GT-R back-up car :). I hope whatever's wrong is minor and covered under warranty (maybe it's the same fuel sensor issue you had)
