My '06 A6 3.2 did not come with satellite or navigation. Looking to find out the best ways to install - for satellite radio - is it a simply plug in to the system in the trunk? For navigation - is it a software installation or requires a new system (hardware) ?

sat radio is a module that is plug& play, yes.
nav retrofit is easy as well. instructions are in my sig.

both are installed in the trunk, on the driver's side.

Let me just add that updating the MMI and gettting the latest NAV disk (v.9) are highly recommended. But realize that V.9 still don't allow you to search for pharmacies (??!!) or supermarkets (?!)

Oh, and I am sure you have seen in Pierreb's sig, Nav install does require some wire running to the fuse box on the passenger side and some taking apart of rear passenger compartment...very minimal, really.
