Hello All: I just purchased a 2006 A6 (3.2 Quattro) through CarMax. When registering with Audi of America as the current owner of the car, I was told that my car had Audi Care, purchased by the previous owner.

On a subsequent call, I was told by another Audi "Customer Care Advocate" that because I didn't purchase the car directly through an Audi dealer, that the Audi Care was no longer valid.

I've been to my local dealership and looked online, and all the materials I've found say that the coverage is non-transferable and "remains with the vehicle". There is "no transfer fee to the new owner."

Before I go to California Consumer Affairs about this, I'd like to solicit your experences. Does Audi honor its commitment to Audi Care purchased by a previous owner, or do they not?

I'm still thrilled to own my first Audi, and hope this confusion over the remaining pre-paid maintenance can be satisfactorily resolved.

Thanks for your input!

What has been your experience with Audi on this issue?

I dunno anything about the program since I didn't purchase it with my car, but there's a contradiction in what you said here... generally if they say that something is "non-transferable" it DOES MEAN that the service cannot be passed on from previous owner to new owner.

That was my take as well, Non Transferable means that it stays with the original owner and will not stay with the car and be available to you, the second owner.

Why not go into your local Audi dealer and ask them. Good luck getting it resolved.

I don't know if the program has changed over time, but I'm pretty sure I was told that it stays with the car regardless of who owns it. I got AudiCare on my 2008, and being transferable may contribute to the fact that the residual value is a point higher when you buy AudiCare on a lease.

Any good dealer should be able to confirm the right answer.

and transferable. I have a used '06 which has been covered, but is expiring this spring. They've done every maintenance interval under Audi Care.

It is transferable. I'm not sure about CPO Audi Care though. 2006s had free maintenance. Audi Care wasn't launched till 2007.

I think it may have changed mid-year actually.

Page 8 in mine describes the maintenance care that's covered. It's good for 4 years, 50K miles from date of service.
