Hi all,

Recently my car has been "vibrating" pretty bad when reaching 70-80mph. I drive to work on the highway everyday so I would know when it began and I'm wondering what I need to have looked at. Im hoping its not anything to do with suspension. I remember hitting a pretty mad curb a couple weeks ago...could I have bent a rim slightly?

Any suggestions on how to have this cost efficiently looked into would be appreciated.

ps - Though likely unrelated I just had the big timing belt job done and the timing of this vibration seems a bit suspicious to me.

Just curious, did you catch the right forum? I thought both the A5 & S5 had timing chains

I would check wheels and tires first. Find a reputable tire company in your area vs going to the dealer for this issue.

most likely it's a bent wheel that is creating the vibration. i've had 3 out of 5 wheels bent (very slightly) in the past which causes vibration at higher speeds (not noticeable at lower speeds). your best bet in this case is to have the wheels checked and straightened (50-150 depending on wheel size).

another possibility has to do with ice build up on the wheels which throws off the wheel balancing -- but unless you went through some snow recently this is probably not it.
