I have a 2005 4.2 with 60k miles that has a very noticable rumble/vibration when making a u-turn or making a sharp turn. The dealer replaced the diff oil and it went away only to reappear 3 months later.
Any solutions to this very annoying and unrefined problem?

I had the same problem with my 05 4.2. It went away after the dealer 1) replaced differential fluid, 2) replaced transmission fluid, and 3) replaced brake calipers with the new redesigned model that releases a little further.

My dealers service adviser and the tech mechanic both told me it was the tires. WTF My summer and winter tires both make the rumble. They won't do anything else to fix it, except recommend Audi qualified tires. I am amazed at their responses. Another reason I am going to get rid of it.

If you don't have another dealer to use, then maybe that's the right thing to do.
Personally, I'd see about getting some fluids changed...maybe tranny first.

Yes, its normal. I had 2 dealers look at it and a private shop and they all confirmed that its normal, the all wheel drive power shifts from 1 wheel to the other in turns and u-turns. causes vibrations, normal.

My dealer changed the center dif oil and it almost completely went away...6 months later it is noticable but not nearly as bad as when I took it in...
I took it in anyway telling the mechanic to sit down with me, and he said that although he does feel it, its still within spec and toleration for the vehicle...and much better than the first place...

It was fixed at 35K and I am now at 57K and it has not returned ...... yet.
Any updates to a possible solution? My dealer suggested it was my snow tires, but it also does it with my summer tires! They had no other ideas but admitted that they are seeing more and more complaints on this topic.
