one thing good about this format is the ability to *bump* this thread to the top.

not really

I agree, the new format IMO is terrible. Really dislike this format. With the old version, I thought the responses were much easier to read and follow.

What was wrong with the white background? Isn't most of what you read on white background?

If that bothers you, simply use a CSS that sets your brackground to red. Or blue. Or black :)

This is the exact reason why I stayed clear from Audizine and other forums...this seems like a huge step back

I like this format much better, but it needs to be a bit more lively. The current one is very plain.

Not exactly true. If you change your Thread options to Threaded (see user guide) you can see the responses sort of the old way. This way, if you see a topic you like, you can enter it, then read the subject line of the responses like the old way. Also, if I'm not mistaken, you can get replies to subscribed threads in your email so you don't have to log into AW all the time.

all well and good until you have 100s of threads you've participated in over the last 3,4...10 years.

Oh and just wait until you experience the fun of 'bumping'...for a sample, check out the Off Topic forum where threads from 1998 are now on the first page...good luck!

But that's the point of subscribing. If you don't really care to follow the thread, then don't auto-subscribe. The flexibility of the new format is superior, it just takes some getting used to.

I hated coming to this forum *because* of the old school threading. Threads don't jump to the top with new replies, hard to keep track of title threads, etc.

I like the new 'contemporary' forums.

i agree i like the bump to the top :)

i'm getting used to the new format-- as long as you set up the view as 'threaded' in options than it's not too bad :)

you can avoid the bumps with the sort by thread start date in forum view. the option is at the bottom of the page.
