I got ready to replace the temporary rear tag on my car with the permanent license plate. I carefully backed out the plastic screws holding the temporary plate and frame on. I noticed that both screws were sheared off such that only a small part of the screw length was actually holding the license plate in place. The distal ends of the screws were stuck in the receptacle of the backing plate.
These plastic screw are rather flimsy. I suspect that whoever installed the temporary plate at the dealership over-torqued them causing them to snap off.
I plan on having the dealership either fix the embedded screw ends, or replacing the backing plate. I'm just curious, though, whether anyone else has had the same problem?
