I blew a K04 and decided to go a different route.

Built motor, new rods (Pauters), main bearings, rod bearings, OEM pistons, new piston rings, lower compression headgaskets etc. Built and balanced to within a gram, by BobQ.

2.8 heads/cams with 034 TI retainer, valve springs, lifters etc. Also built by BobQ

T4 single scroll manifold, schedule 10 piping, v-band. BW S366 .91 A/R turbo, mounted behind the motor. Running a smaller coolant tank, relocated to avoid a 3" catless downpipe.

Still running ME7, but with a 90mm MAF, 82# injectors, new fuel rail/fuel delivery setup, and an in-tank walbro coupled with an inline 044.

On top of that, I have a little bit of weight reduction. Bride seats, lightweight battery, lighter wheels, etc.

Should* be done soon. I'd say within 6-8 weeks. Just waiting on a few parts to arrive.
