Ok, so the old 2007-2008 S4 V8 Tiptronic could do 6.1 seconds (and manual 5.8 seconds).
Now we have the A6 Avant 3.0 that could do 6.1 seconds (conservative) and probably 5.9 seconds 0-60 when its engine gets condition at 20,000+ miles.
Chassis-wise, I still prefer the luxurious A6 Avant.
And I guess this is what Audi wants to happen. They just put the new S4 engine in the A6 Avant and have people buy that.
Even the A4 Avants don't have any other engines except the 2.0. Not even the 3.2 ... WTF !

So that means less power and several hundred pounds more in curb weight in the A6...doesn't seem like much of a replacement for the S4 Avant. Bottom line though is that the S4 Avant never sold enough volume to justify federalizing it...it sucks but it looks like a sound biz decision by AoA.

but no sport suspension and it's pretty big and pricey.

I'm excited about it new 3.0T
Mid to high 4 sec would be even better.
Perhaps with the current low gas prices the Q5 will actually sell and make the Q7 obsolete.

the A6 avant in Jan. I just hope they don't release the S4 avant for 2010.

I'm guessing it's the same deal here too. Not just a simple ecu flash. Hope I'm wrong though...would love to get the wifey an A6 Avant an bump the output.

and the whole gigantic SUV thing is really a social stigma these days.
...and the S4 engine was rated at 340hp (on 91 octane) and the allroad engine at 280hp (on 87 octane). Chip it and you're there, but very few ever did it.
What are the differences in the supercharged 3.0 in the A6 versus the S4?
