I just went to the dealer today and asked if the S4 will be coming with the Avant trim. And my dealer said Yes.

If you scroll down below, there's also an article that says 7,000 S4s will be coming to the US market and some will be Avants.

Sounds like it will be fun ... but the question is ... when will it arrive? Maybe I can wait 6 months, but 1 year ... Augghhh !

So far they've been right on with everything. Even on the arrival of the R8s on the showroom.

Personally, I would argue that there is a stronger case for the B8 S4 avant in America than the B7.

First, there is a general trend of Americans moving away from SUVs into wagons.

Second, the B8 S4 has much better gas mileage- the practicality of an avant as a grand tourer becomes a lot less practical at 14mpg.

Third, the B8 S4 is a more competitive car than the B7 S4 in general, which was mechanically identical the B6 S4.

And fourth, the B8 is a larger car that is big enough for typical American families- the B8 avant could conceivably serve as a replacement for a midsize SUV, the B7 was too small for that.

B8 hatch area is smaller than B6/B7. Sloped rear glass kills the cargo hold.

I'm going back to my dealer this Friday and see if your contact is the same as their contact.
