View Full Version : Motor Trend: S4 "$60k loaded" Rocky-in-Connecticut 10-30-2008, 07:37 AM

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/112_0812_2010_audi_s4_first_drive/index.html</a

Bob58 10-30-2008, 07:47 AM AofC_RR 10-30-2008, 08:56 AM So loaded for 60k would be great especially if that includes ADS and the sport differential. cohenfive@yahoo.com 10-30-2008, 11:48 AM about $10k above a 335i, way above a g37, etc....that's before taking discounts into effect. with discounts, even the new m3 isn't far away. i think if the car market is the same when the s4 comes out as it is now, it is going to have to trade in the mid 50's tops. zerinS4 10-31-2008, 07:38 AM ads 10-31-2008, 08:22 AM DrGP 10-31-2008, 08:22 AM Probably get a discoun as well since the M3s aren't flying out of the showrooms. If the price is not at least the same as the current S4, sales will be modest at best. What I mean is that the car will not be much of a sales competitor to the 335i and definitely is no longer ann M3 competitor. If I recall, 04 sales were something in the range of 5000 units for S4s Rocky-in-Connecticut 10-31-2008, 09:48 AM joejoe1881 10-31-2008, 09:50 AM Difficult price point? Used M3? Who compares a brand new MSRP to a used car, ever. Absolutely pointless. Lets compare some actual MSRP prices and not nonsense. Loaded S4 - ~62k, Includes all the goodies +ADS, sport differential, and of course Quattro. Loaded M3- ~69k, All the goodies, but no ADS, no sport differential, no Quattro. 335i - ~54k, again no ADS, no sport differential, no Quattro. Hmm, is this even a contest anymore? The S4 is clearly a better car than the 335i in every way. The $8k difference isn't even close to being a factor. Is the $7k premium worth the M3? We know the only area where the M3 can beat the Audi is performance so far we have two numbers, 0-60 where the M3 wins, and 50-75, where the Audi wins. Now of course everyone has different tastes in cars and you buy what you want. But the constant PMSing over the Audi price point is absolutely unjustified. zerinS4 10-31-2008, 11:05 AM bpp 11-01-2008, 02:01 AM Don't forget the current market conditions which ain't going away before the intro on this car in the third qtr '09. The demographics are changing. Maybe they'll go out the door heavily discounted if we're lucky, but not likely immediately after the S4 introduction. There are many competitprs at or below this price range, albeit not an Audi but nevertheless competitve. I for one would rather not buy the competition because I think Audi has "the most complete packsge", but too many dollars for my pocketbook. .02 :( BMWBig6 11-01-2008, 03:32 AM They obviously believe they can sell 3,000 examples here. I'm not really disagreeing with you on the price point, just playing devil's advocate. bpp 11-03-2008, 03:02 AM goes away at that price point profit no longer is a consideration...specially when M-B can price out the C63 around $63k and the M3 is nice at about the same price. The S5 is at that $60k break when optioned heavily, and why I'm negative about the $60k S4. Of course I'm speculating, not knowing anything about where the S will price at. :) bzcat 11-03-2008, 03:54 PM bpp 11-04-2008, 01:29 AM sieben 11-07-2008, 12:40 PM |
