with a Glock 23 in my IWB holster. I have not ventured out of the house with any of my pistols yet, as I have not fired them and feel uncomfortable with them. I feel like I am doing something wrong when I have them on my person. Weird, eh?

Those of you with CCW, how often do you carry, and did you have any concerns when you started? If so, how did you get over the concerns?

The AMT Backup in .45 is more comfy, but I dunno how it shoots either. If I can hit anything with it I think it will be my primary carry piece.

Open carry daily with primary + BUG. No problems, although I get asked if I'm a cop or not, which I answer no. Pocket carry illegally in States that disallow carry...it's the sensible thing to do.

Have shot off about 4000 rd. this year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanna_Hupp#Death_of_parents</a

Consider one of those tiny guns that fits in your pants pocket. Like a Seecamp.

and

B: Going to the range this weekend with the Glock and the AMT and about 300 rounds of each ammo to see how comfortable I am with each firearm.

Then we shall see about carrying outside the home.

I do *not* want to be any kind of bad data point, I want to be safe and comfortable about having my pistol with me. I understand that I cannot pick when would be a good time to have it, and feel that if I am to carry, it should be full time.

100rds minimum with carry ammo.

Not sure I'd carry a pistol I'd only been to the range with once, regardless of how many rounds I'd put through it.

I think I've had mine out several times and quite a few hundred rounds through them before carrying.

All that's pretty subjective though, it's when you feel comfortable and accurate. Hopefully you ARE accurate, not just feeling that way ;)

Best to go with a friend and load each other's magazines. Either a short filled mag or non-live round that you have to react to.

and dry firing on the sticker. Once you've done that about 2000 times it becomes ingrained in your muscle memory and you'll be able to do it quickly and reflexively. Start slow and focus on form, then try to get a little faster every time.

Or are you still target and hunting?

when I first got my permit I wouldn't carry with a round in the chamber even though I felt completely comfortable handling and firing at the range. Now my only problem is I feel self conscience printing. My new gun which is smaller and lighter helps a lot. I'm looking forward to the colder weather where I can wear more clothes though.

and many weeks in public... and then it is like wearing pants... you don't think/notice it, but feel naked without it

but there is no basis in law for the restriction.

IE: I cannot be charged with a crime for carrying outside my restriction, however, I can loose my permit for it. OTOH, I am *always* on my way to target practice, as evidenced by the fact that my gun club is open 24/7 and I have my targets with me.

for real life, not movies. But from a draw I *suck*. Working on that.

So sticking with lots of practice and work until I am comfortable with the firearm, then start to carry.

Perhaps I misinterpreted - I thought you'd never shot the pistols before, so I was a little concerned ;)

I just seem that I get "distracted" often from making it to the range. I still have a month or two till I get my permit. Oh there is an open house today at sara spa, going to shoot barret .50 cal.
