part of that is knowing what is legal, what is illegal, and what is generally frowned upon. In this day and age you need to do everything by-the-book, especially if you wanna own NFA weapons, or you'll find yourself at the wrong end of the justice system.

I'm not saying it's right, or just, or that it shouldn't be changed, I'm just saying that's the way it is. You want cool toys you gotta play by the rules, all kinds of kids in LA that got their cars impounded for emissions violations will tell you the same thing.

...and I hadn't seen most of the details in the blog before - it's pretty telling that the gun folks are glossing over all of Olofson's crazy antics.... I feel a LOT less sorry for the guy than when it was "I loaned a gun to a guy, it doubled a few times, and now I'm in FPMITA prison for years".

Somehow, "I built a gun w/99% M16 parts, told the kid not to push the selector into the full position, and then acted surprised when it doubled. Then I went all rabid on the BATF and refused to get a lawyer. Shockingly I lost!" just doesn't resonate with me.

they are fully legal by paying the tax stamp. so he didn't pay a tax on a gun he's in jail? that is lame
