Kinda new to the firearms forum (didn't know it existed lol) so i don't know how u guys operate, but ive been on the B5 forum for over a year now. Im just curious what all everyone uses for deer season, assuming u even hunt lol. If u prefer groundhog, bear, or even Elephant that's cool too.

I use my Remington 700 SPS DM Chambered in .30-06 mated with a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 and this year ill prolly carry my HK45 along with me just for the hell of it (only had her a cople months, and shes my first...lol).

or is that a p-chop?

I still have one of the hats from 8-9 years ago, from when someone at The Firing Line first did up some hats and shirts.

Anschutz Model 64P, 22LR with 10" barrel

It's based on the Anschutz Model 64 match rifle action. I originally bought this handgun for squirrel hunting, and mine has a 4X Nikon scope in lieu of the iron sights. With Eley Tenex, 10-shot groups at 50 yds are one ragged 1/2" hole on paper, or a single shot makes a 1/4" hole in the head of a groundhog.

Deer and Birds

Mossberg 550 - 12 guage.

Montgomery Count, MD + deer hunting = deer barrel.

Bird hunting is self explanatory.

I hate when people use a 300 win mag or a 7mm mag for whitetail deer. it is overkill anything over a 30-06, and plus the 30-06 (and .308 win) are excellent rifles for a diverse range of game.

also carrying a .45 is a good idea for if you wound an animal. using a scoped rifle for finishing off an animal is useless since the change hitting it are slim.

if I was able to hunt in an area where I was taking <100 yards shots again then I would definitely hunt with the shotgun again. I also have a .44 mag rifle (Ruger 96/44 level action rifle) that I used as a saddle gun in the past, and I'd like the chance to drop a deer with it.

now it's not going anywhere. Rear shaft is still connected to the case, but that entire rear section of the tcase broke and pulled out. It's a huge mess, I needz a job and some loot to get her running again.

I keep telling him he needs to go to the shooting range to practice with me.

Yours sounds like a very nice gun for rodent control.

It's helps a bunch to be able to steady the handgun on a post or against a tree. I couldn't even begin to make a reliable 50 yd head shot on a groundhog without a good rest.
