going to the range today. i wanted something fun and cheap for the range -- it would seem i got it.

<img src="http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/walther_p22_3.4.jpg">

the thing is cute -- but wow is it a pain to disassemble and reassemble. you need a guide stick to keep the spring in shape when putting the slide back on -- never seen that before.

plus -- i have no idea how i got the slide back on -- it's not very intuitive and there is no mechanical *feel* to it. it just eventually sat in place. the slide release is a plastic POS that makes me a little nervous.

i hope it's more fun to shoot than it is field strip.

on the plus side it fits my wifes hand perfectly and would be something nice for her to start on.

someone tell me they have this gun and they love it. i couldn't say no -- it was under $200.

The P22 was my first pistol. (Purchased about one month ago) I like the P22 because it's so cheap to shoot. I ran about 500 of the Federal bulks from Walmart through it. Probably saw six ftf in the whole bunch. For $.02 per round and plinking in the back yard I'm willing put up with a few ftf due to crappy, cheap ammo.

The P99 is .40 cal, so far flawless operation.

Good to see you are getting some new toys!

Let me know next time you go to the range, I'm living in Dedham now.<ul><li><a href="http://www.carlwalther.com/page2.htm">http://www.carlwalther.com/page2.htm</a</li></ul>

to how much fun you'll have with the P22. I have yet to come across a .22 that's more finicky about the ammo that goes into it. Play around with different loads/brands and find one that works consistently and you'll have a ball. Well built gun with quite a few accessories available especially if you want to go class 3 with it.

ran an entire brick of winchester wildcats through it and had 2 failure to feeds (both on the sam mag which is suspect). all in all - an awesome little plinker.

nothing bad to say -- gotta buy more 22lr and go back asap!

There is also a way to fix the spring so you dont need that little stick.

I have seen that with the super cheap ammo. Happens more on the normal magazine (not extended grip mag).

I haven't used enough "better" ammunition to verify if it would make a difference.

might oil it.

the 498 rounds of fun outweighed to 2 rounds of jamming!

junk. plastic, fussy, horrible trigger.
yes, cute to look at and play with.
just dont shoot with it. Only gun I ever returned.

If you want a .22, get a Model 41 S+W and keep it forever.
