I am retrofitting the sport suspension on my A4. Just find someone who is selling their Sport suspension. There are some people who are selling Sport suspensions in the A4.org classifieds, but most of them want too much for their suspensions. I wouldn't pay more than $$400 for the suspensions.
You could also get some aftermarket setups, Neuspeed springs are $189, but the shocks will run you more I think.
Christian J. Long

How superior is the A!AvantGarde kit to the standard sport kit. The price difference is almost $1000 Shocks, struts, springs (autobahn-$1400 vs the $400 for the stock)
Is the difference noticeable ($1000 worth) or not?

After driving both, I would say that the A!AvantGarde package definitely provides better handling to the factory sport package...at the expense of ride comfort. It is an aggressive setup.
I love the handling, as well as the ride height of the A!AvantGarde kit; however, the factory sport package is very tough to beat at $400. It offers the best value. Much improved handling over the stock setup, and a very good comfort level.
The only thing I think the factory sport package is missing is a slightly lower ride height. I still think it rides just a bit high. However, this can be a very subjective matter.
Compared with the A!AvantGarde, the Koni/Eibach setup provides a much more compliant ride and obviously improves handling over the stock setup. Unlike the A!AvantGarde kit, the Koni/Eibach setup (that I drove) did produce a little rubbing of the tires on the front fenders. Not sure what others' experiences have been with the Koni/Eibach setup as far as rubbing goes?
When I tested the PES Supercharger kit, there were 4 of us in my car, and we never experienced any rubbing at all.
One last thing about the cost. The factory is only charging the DIFFERENCE between the std. setup and the sport package. The one advantage the aftermarket does provide is that you'd be able to keep the stock springs/shocks and put them back on the car at a later time if so desired. This may or may not be important to you.
Hope this helps,
Mike
