View Full Version : Speaking of lasers and discounts - does anyone know what the LaserMax NRA Instructor discount is?

If the parts fails, the gun no longer functions.

Do a search for lasermax vs. crimson trace, seems to be a highly discussed topic.

I'm not aware of any crimson trace grip-style lasers for tupperware pistols - I think you're stuck with rail stuff if you have a rail, or clamp-on crap otherwise.

Sure, if "the part fails, the gun no longer functions" but we're talking a *MECHANICAL* failure, not the laser.

It seems to me (no direct experience) that the mechanical part of a guide-rod laser would be relatively robust, the places I'd expect a laser to fail would be in the laser diode itself, perhaps the optics/alignment mechanisms, or some other mounted electronic component. None of that would I expect to cause the mechanical function of the guide rod to change.

Yeah, I can easily see that some guide rods might not have physical room in their volumetric space to be able to cram all the laser stuff and still have something mechanically sound, but I presume that LaserMax hasn't gotten where they are by building unsound mechanicals....again no direct experience though.

In this case I was mostly curious - sometimes these discounts are trivial (5-10%) but sometimes they're substantial (60-80%). If the latter, it's maybe worth getting a buddy who's an NRA Instructor to jump through the hoops and get approved for that pricing....

They do make clips on's for polymer framed pistols...
