For some of you that read my posts about firearms, you'll know I'm a huge fan of everyone having proper training, along with firearm safety classes.
Today I went to the Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga CA with my dad. We went to check out this huge place, and of course look at the guns they had around.
I was appalled at the presence of morons handling and looking to buy guns. I heard some salesmen talking about the Smith and Wesson M&P (which I have) he clearly didn't know anything about the gun and was feeding this customer bull****. He also couldn't disassemble the gun (since he didn't know about the Sear disconnect) after showing him how, I suggested that he should change his job or know the product he was selling..
Furthermore looking a pistols it was very clear that most people looking to buy these guns, had no idea about them or gun safety..
I simply just walked away knowing that these untrained people would soon be operating these guns simply treating them like toys..
I walked over near the camping section where there was a shooting range where you operated laser guns (shaped with real stocks and barrels). A bunch of kids were playing having a good time hitting the laser reflectors. I was walking bye and noticed one of the boys was turning around pointing the gun towards a friend. Upon seeing this I felt it was up to me to let this kid know that improper gun usage, no matter what kind of gun isnt going to go unnoticed. I walked over, grabbed the barrel and pointed it downwards telling him, never under any circumstance, even a fake gun, that he should point it anybody. His parents seeing this came over to me and made it known It wasnt my right to teach their son about proper firearm safety. After telling them, yes- it is my right, if i see improper usage of a firearm I'm going to do something about it, there were a few more customers that saw what i was doing. The all agreed with me telling the parents they were out of line yelling at me. I simply walked away, wishing that i made a difference, knowing I probably didnt.
Oh well, just thought I'd vent and share my experience of how many people out there are very irresponsible gun users...
